Do You Have A Chocolate Addiction?
Is your chocolate addiction a real physical or emotional addiction?
At times it may seem that way since the cravings can be very intense and, in fact, chocolate does have properties that may cause it to be addictive. If you are eating it to soothe emotional upset you could end up on a roller coaster of chocolate binges.
A little bit of chocolate here and there is fine, but if you find yourself sneaking chocolate and using it as an emotional crutch, you may have a chocolate addiction that should be reigned in. Chocolate is usually combined with sugar and fat and should be used once in a while but probably isn’t very healthy as a constant treat.
What's so bad about a chocolate addiction anyway? Excessive consumption of chocolate can have adverse affects on your body. It can cause obesity, dental cavities, migraines, heartburn and even coronary problems. It contains the chemical phenylethylamine which can enhance your mood. This is why people turn to chocolate when depressed. Unfortunately, while this may work at first, it will have adverse effects in the long run.
