Health Benefits Of Coffee
It used to be that drinking it was a vice, but new studies showing the health benefits of coffee
are turning the worlds favorite beverage into a healthy habit!
Consumption of caffeinated coffee, in moderate doses of 1 to 3 cups per day can aid in many health areas from
tooth decay to colon cancer and still not have the addicting attributes associated with caffeine.
It can even offset some of the damage done by other bad habits such as smoking or heavy drinking as people who also
drink coffee have been shown to have less heart disease and liver damage.
But it's not just the caffeine that is credited with the health benefits of coffee.
Coffee also contains many anti oxidants including quinines, chlorogenic acid and tocopherols as
well as essentional minerals such as magnesium. All of which help in glucose metabolism and result in
those who regularly drink coffee having a reduced risk of diabetes.
Coffee is also found to contain trigonelline which can help prevent tooth decay due to its anti-bacterial
properties. It may even be that some of the antioxidants in coffee boost the activity of enzymes which may protect
against colon cancer (according to animal studies published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry).
Other health benefits of coffee include a reduced risk of developing Parkinsons Disease, help in relieving
asthma symptoms, stopping tension headaches, and inhibiting the formation of gallstones.
