How To Cook Lobster Tails
Cooking lobster tails – either frozen or thawed is easy!
Below we will discuss how to cook lobster tails using a couple of different methods.
Of course the best ones to use are those from New England lobsters -
you can order them online quite easily even if you are nowhere near New England!
The first step in cooking lobster tails is to thaw them. Put them in the fridge for 10 hours or so.
You can also thaw them in the microwave on defrost but keep a close eye on them to make sure they don’t cook.
You can cook them frozen, but they will be more tender if you thaw them first.
How to cook Lobster Tails – Boiling
Boil water with 1 tsp salt. Drop the tails in, cook for 1 minute per oz thawed (so 10 0z of tails needs to cook for 10 minutes).
If you insist on cooking frozen add about 50% to the cooking time (cook 10 0z for 15 minutes).
Cooking Lobster Tails in the Oven
They can be baked or broiled – if you decide to broil keep a close eye on them to make sure the tops don’t burn while the
underside is still raw! If you bake them, set the oven to 400 degrees F, brush with butter and bake for 8 – 10 minutes.
How To Cook Lobster Tails on The grill
Oil the grill to keep them from sticking. Brush the tails with butter and place on the grill. Grill on each side for 4-5 minutes.
After they are cooked, there is a multitude of ways to enjoy them!
Of course you can eat them right after they are cooked or you can put them in a chowder or bisque.
Chop them up and store in the fridge to sprinkle on pizza or quiche.
Or mix with mayonnaise and celery and stuff inside a hot dog role for a new England lobster roll treat!
